Caught red-handed: 'Robber' killed during shootout

An alleged robber was killed on Monday while he was trying to escape, after looting valuables from a house in Korangi.


A group of armed men comprising at least five members entered Ibrar Hussain's house located at Sector 33-C in Korangi, within the limits of Awami Colony police station. Most of the family members were asleep when the robbers entered the house at 4am. The robbers held the family members hostage at gunpoint. Upon hue and cry, the neighbours informed the police helpline Madadgar 15.


The police reached the site. A shootout occurred when the robbers were trying to flee, during which one robber was injured. However, his accomplices managed to escape the scene.


The injured was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his wounds during treatment. The deceased suspect has yet to be identified. The body was later moved to Edhi morgue in Sohrab Goth. The police also claim to have seized Rs50,000 and a pistol from him.
