In custody: Three arrested for attacking district councilor
A pistol and Kalashnikov were also confiscated from their possession
MARDAN:
Police arrested three people who allegedly shot and injured a district councillor and two others in Rorya Jadeed, Mardan on Monday.
Bahadur told the police he was with district councillor Ikhtidar Khan and another man, when Ali Shah, Sadiq Shah and Iqbal Shah barged in and opened fire.
As a result, all three of them were injured.
The accused initially managed to flee but were arrested later by the police. A pistol and Kalashnikov were also confiscated from their possession.
Separately, a young man allegedly committed suicide on Golden Cinema Road, Mardan on Monday morning.
The deceased, identified as Basit Khan, shot himself in the head and died on the spot. The reason behind the suicide remains unknown.
According to Basit’s mother, her husband was killed by unidentified men a few years ago.
“We have another tragedy to deal with before we could get past the other,” she said. Police has registered FIR and started investigation into the case.
