Inspection teams: ‘Responsibility for child labour at kilns is owners’ alone’
The nominees, recommended by the association, will be integrated at the tehsil and district levels
LAHORE:
Labour and Human Resource Secretary Ali Sarfraz asked members of the All Pakistan Brick Kilns Association on Sunday to nominate members for inspection teams to check child labour at kilns.
Sarfraz chaired a meeting where he heard association members’ reservations over government inspections under the Restriction of Employment of Children at Brick Kilns Ordinance 2016.
The nominees, recommended by the association, will be integrated at the tehsil and district levels. Safaraz said the demand that parents of children working at kilns be held responsible for it was not justified. “Owners hold complete authority over who is employed...they alone will be held responsible.”
