4 militants killed near Chaman

A large quantity of arms and explosives were also confiscated from their custody, sources say

Law enforcement agencies shot dead four militants who were seen planting an improvised explosive device in the Abdul Rehman Zai area of Gulistan, a town bordering Afghanistan, early Friday.


“Four of them were planting an improvised explosive device near Chaman on the National Highway when they were spotted and shot dead on the spot,” security sources said. A large quantity of arms and explosives were also confiscated from their custody, the sources added. Separately, FC troops foiled an act of terror in Dera Murad Jamali when they found and defused an improvised explosive device along with a detonator. The saboteurs were planning to use the IED weighing 8kgs against the security forces guarding gas pipelines.


Four terrorists nabbed

Four suspected terrorists were arrested during a search operation carried out by Frontier Corps soldiers in Dasht tehsil and its adjoining areas in Mastung district early Friday. The FC soldiers also recovered sixteen 12-bore rifles, one 30-bore pistol, one SMG, four rifles and numerous rounds of ammunition, including magazines from the suspects during the operation.

Separately, three bodies were recovered from the mountains of Dara Shakha area of Pak-Afghan border city of Chaman on Friday. According to Levies personnel, armed men killed three people and dumped their bodies in a desolate mountainous area of Dara Shakha.
