SARGODHA:

More than 316 public schools in Sargodha division will be run on solar energy, a spokesperson for the Education Department said on Wednesday. He said that the department had sent a proposal to the provincial government to allocate funds in this regard.

“These schools are located in areas at a considerable distance from WAPDA transmission lines…it is not possible to link these schools to the national grid.” He said the project was likely to be completed by end of this year. He said after the chief minister approved the proposal, 97 schools in Mianwali, 85 schools in Sargodha, 75 schools in Khushab district and 59 schools in Bhakkar district would be provided solar panels.

The panels will be monitored by the district administration and Education Department.
