Exit control list: IB joint director’s name still on ECL
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Dr Sulaiman through his counsel Barrister Mudassir Ameer
PESHAWAR:
PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel has sought a reply from the Federal Investigation Agency director general on not removing the name of a joint director of the Intelligence Bureau from the exit control list (ECL).
The bench was hearing a petition filed by Dr Sulaiman through his counsel Barrister Mudassir Ameer.
Ameer said the petitioner was a grade-20 officer in Police Services of Pakistan and was under investigation in a weapons’ scam case when his name was placed on the ECL. He pointed out the accountability court has already declined to summon the petitioner and the judgment was upheld by the PHC but his name was still on the ECL. He argued his promotion was delayed due to the case.
The petitioner was a responsible officer and placing his name on the ECL was illegal and unconstitutional, said Ameer. He requested the court to order the removal of his name from the ECL.
