Balochistan polio drive: Zehri urges tribal leaders, Ulema to play their role

Around 1,900 security personnel would be deployed to guard the polio workers

QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Sanaullah Zehri on Sunday appealed to the masses to administer anti-polio drops to their children during the 3-day immunisation campaign kicking off from Monday (today) in entire Balochistan.

In a statement, the CM also appealed to the local body representatives, political and tribal leaders, and Ulema to play their role for making the immunisation drive a success.

“The provincial government has vowed to make Balochistan a terror and polio free province,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Saifur Rehman, Coordinator Emergency Operation Centre Balochistan, said more than 1.6 million children of 15 districts would be administered polio drops under strict security measure taken by the provincial government.

Around 1,900 security personnel would be deployed to guard the polio workers. “We met Commander Southern Command Lt-Ge Amir Riaz and he assured us of military support during the campaign,” he added.
