Celebrating punjabi: Punjabi Literary Festival to start today

Lyallpur Punjabi Sulaikh Mela will kick off at the Faisalabad Arts Council on Monday (today). The two-day literary festival has been organised by the Faisalabad Arts Council, Punjab Lok Sujag, Qaqanass, Mast FM 103 and Ao Ral Mil Chanan Karyae Organisation.


On the first day of the event, a documentary on Lok Punjabi hero Rai Ahmed Khan Kharl will be screened. Other events include jhoomar, lok sangeet, Sufi kalam and a photography exhibition. Seven sessions have been planned for the second day: Punjabi Kahani, Punjabi Novel, the Role of Women in Punjabi Literature, an exhibition of books on Punjab’s history, Punjabi Lok Biyania, Challenges for Punjabi Language and Way Forward. The mela will conclude on February 16 with a mushaira.
