Two labourers working on an under-construction hostel at the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology died on Sunday after a lift crashed on top of them. DCO Noorul Amin Mengal has given a two-member inquiry committee 24 hours to probe the matter and submit a report on the incident.

A spokesperson for the Rescue-1122 said that the labourers were working on a hostel site at the Faisalabad Institute of Cardiology when a lift developed a fault and gave way. It fell on top of the two labourers crushing them. He said that 25-year-old Sher Muhammad and his cousin, 22-year-old Asghar, both residents of Tobe Tek Singh district, received serious injuries. Sher Muhammad died while being treated at the DHQ hospital. Police said that they had seized the bodies and had initiated investigations.
