Healthcare for all: NICVD to build three new towers

National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for its three new towers to be built at the NICVD, opposite Jinnah hospital. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, trustees of the NICVD Welfare Trust and the Cardiovascular Foundation and other dignitaries participated in the ground-breaking ceremony. The construction work is expected to begin in late June or early July and it will be completed in three years.  The construction includes expansion into a new out-patients department, a paediatric cardiac institute, extension of the current emergency room and a new tower. All this expansion is intended to double the institute's existing capacity and cater to patients at highly subsidised rates. "There are many people to thank who worked diligently to see the project through to this point," said NICVD chief operating officer Azra Maqsood.
