Foiled: Coast Guards seize arms, ammunition

PCG officials recovered seven pistols, two repeaters and 300 different rounds from the fertiliser sack

KARACHI:
The Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) claimed on Friday to have recovered a sizeable quantity of arms and ammunition near Super Highway check-post in Karachi. According to the PCG spokesperson, on receipt of credible intelligence regarding smuggling of arms and ammunition through Super Highway, special mobile teams were constituted for routine checking. During the process, a suspicious vehicle was seen. PCG officials chased the vehicle but the driver managed to escape from the site, taking advantage of the heavy traffic flow on Super Highway, the pitch dark night and dense vegetation in the area. PCG officials recovered seven pistols, two repeaters and 300 different rounds from the fertiliser sack he left behind.
