Waiting on aid: BISP benefitting few in Wana as survey on hold
PPP NA candidate says PML-N govt not implementing scheme

For the last two years, the Benazir Income Support Programme's survey has not taken place in Wana subdivision of South Waziristan due to the federal government.
This was stated by Pakistan Peoples Party NA-41 (SWA) candidate Amanullah at a press conference at a hotel in Wana.
For the moment, only a few are benefitting from BISP. To include more families, arrangements were made for a BISP survey and volunteers from Wana were trained for the process. However, the plans for the survey ultimately ground to a halt.
Amanullah added Ghalib Khan, elected to the National Assembly from Wana, is a major hurdle himself as he sees the BISP as a scheme of the PPP government. Ghalib Khan belongs to the ruling party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
“At present, 20,000 forms are lying at BISP's Wana office, but are not being used in door-to-door surveys, which is extremely unfortunate,” Amanullah added.

"We are making every effort to use the forms and start the surveys, but there has been no such order from the government, so we cannot act upon it,” said BISP SWA Assistant Director Umar Wazir.
Sanaullah, the personal secretary of Ghalib Khan, denied the allegation and said the survey was suspended over a lack of funds for the Public Sector Development Programme.
