Petroleum Sale: Govt issued notice on sales tax
The petitioner’s counsel told the court that the sales tax on petroleum products was unconstitutional

Justice Shahid Waheed of Lahore High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the federal government on a petition moved by Pakistan Tehrek-i-Insaf’s Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed challenging imposition of sales tax on petroleum products. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that the sales tax on petroleum products was unconstitutional. He said only the parliament could impose such a tax. He said the federal government did not have the authority to impose a tax.
