He expressed dismay over the slow pace of work and reprimanded the officials responsible for constructing the track. Mengal was informed that Rs100 million had been released for the construction of the track.
The officials blamed the contractors’ “lacklustre” attitude for the delay. Mengal then reprimanded the Buildings Department district officer and directed him to ensure that the track was laid right within the stipulated time of three months. He said that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had taken keen interest in the project and would not tolerate delays. “But that does not mean there is room for compromise on the quality of material being used to build the track,” he said. The DCO ordered the officials to closely monitor work at the stadium.
