As a large crowd of mourners attended the funeral of playwright Fatima Suraiyya Bajia, pickpockets made their way among them and robbed people of their wallets and cellphones.
The victims of pickpocketing include former Arts Council's president Ahmed Shah, governing body member Iqbal Ansari and actor Aslam Shaikh. "It is not shocking for us that we are deprived of our valuables but, it is definitely shocking that it happened at a funeral," said one of the victims, a former official of the Arts Council. The police remained unaware of the incident. "A lot of people were robbed but no one complained," said DSP Raheem Shah.
