Rawalpindi Bar Association: Advocate Khalid elected president

The election of District Bar Associations of twin cities were held here on Saturday.

RAWALPINDI: The election of District Bar Associations of twin cities were held here on Saturday. Advocate Javad Khalid was elected president of the District Bar Association DBA Rawalpindi by defeating his rival Raja Imran Aziz.

Advocate Khalid secured 925 votes while his rival Raja Imran bagged 513 votes. The seat of vice president was won by Malik Istiqah who secured 868 votes against Aslam Qureshi, who secured 399 votes.

Sardar Manzar Bashir won the seat of general secretary and received 847 votes against his rival Raja Farruk Bhatti, who secured 593 votes, while Advocate Chaudhary Yasir Chatta won the seat of joint secretary by securing 903 votes against his rival Rizwan Quereshi.

Total registered votes of the district bar association was 2,056, including 214 females advocates. However, only 1,462 votes were polled. Polling was started at 9am and ended at 4pm. A heavy contingent of police was present at the court premises.
