Country’s first dedicated gaming laptop unveiled

Dell launches Alienware portable gaming solutions.

KARACHI:
Pakistan’s gaming market has matured to the point where laptop manufacturing giant Dell has seen it fit to launch its high-end-cum-expensive gaming laptops in Pakistan. The official launch of the Alienware series of laptops was held here on Saturday.

These are expensive machines and Dell has a good reason to believe that consumers can afford to buy these laptops. The M15x and the M17x - 15 and 17-inch machines - will retail for around Rs140,000 and Rs190,000 respectively, according to Dell Global BV official Sikander Hussain. He said that this is the first time that a laptop manufacturer has brought out a gaming solution in this form.

“Dell feels that Pakistan’s market is ready for this product,” said the company’s Marketing Head South Asia Nubla Iftikhar.

Referring to another laptop marketed by Dell in Pakistan, she said that the company believed that if consumers could afford to pay around Rs100,000 for a Dell XPS, then they could go an extra mile and buy Alienware as well.

And that is not all. Dell officials said that the company would be bringing out an 11-inch ultraportable gaming laptop, the M11x – the only kind in its size – in Pakistan in the next quarter after looking at the result and sales of currently launched models. The M11x retails for around $1,000 and would be much more affordable than the current ones.

The Alienware series of laptops are considered one of the most prolific gaming devices in the industry. They are categorised by very high-end 3D processing chips which allow them to handle very intensive computer games.
