Suspect: Man killed in police shootout

The cops took the injured man to a hospital but he died on the way there

FAISALABAD: Police have killed a suspect in a shootout near Chak 209-RB in a Madina Town police precinct early morning on Wednesday. Three of the deceased’s accomplices managed to flee, police said.  A police spokesperson said a team of cops headed by CIA Iqbal Town in-charge Abdul Hameed raided Chak 209-RB looking for proclaimed offenders. He said some men shot at the police van near the village. He said the policemen returned fire in which one of the suspects was shot. Police said that he fell down and his accomplices ran into the fields.

The cops took the injured man to a hospital but he died on the way there. The identity of the suspect has not been ascertained yet. Police said that they had seized a Kalashnikov rifle, some bullets and a motorcycle without a number plate.
