ISLAMABAD:

Media reports making rounds on Wednesday stated that the city administration has banned Valentine’s Day related festivities in the federal capital for the past two days.

According to some media reports, the interior ministry issued instructions to the Islamabad Capital Administration to not allow individuals and organisations to hold Valentine’s Day celebrations in the city.

However, city administration officials denied the news saying the administration has not yet received any such instructions from the interior ministry.

“I’m surprised why the electronic media has on-aired such baseless news,” Deputy Commissioner Islamabad  Capt (retd) Mushtaq Ahmed said.

The official said that the minister had called a meeting to review the law and order situation in the city, however, the minister had not issued such directives.

When contacted, Interior Ministry Spokesperson Muhammad Sarfraz confirmed that the ministry had not issued any such directions.
