Naved signs season-long deal with Sussex

Rana started his county career in 2005, formed an effective partnership with fellow Pakistani Mushtaq Ahmed.

LAHORE:
Pakistan’s out-of-favour all-rounder Rana Navedul Hasan has been signed by English county Sussex for their 2011 season.

Naved, currently in Australia for their domestic Twenty20 competition and currently on top of the wicket-takers’ chart, was omitted from the tour of New Zealand despite being cleared by the Pakistan Cricket Board for a ban placed on him earlier in the year.

Rana started his county career in 2005 when he joined the same team and formed an effective partnership with fellow Pakistani Mushtaq Ahmed. However, the partnership had to be broken following an English board’s rule that restricted teams to field just one overseas player.

Naved was re-signed by Sussex last year, this time as cover for another Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat who was named in Pakistan’s squad for their defence of the World Twenty20 that was held in West Indies.
