Dilapidated roads: One killed, five injured in separate accidents
Another incident occurred in Manwal Village, when two motorcyclists collided with each other
CHAKWAL:
A 40-year-old man died and five others were injured on Tuesday in separate road accidents in Chakwal.
Muhammad Yaqoob was riding a tractor on Mangwal Road when it overturned after hitting a pothole. He died on the spot.
Meanwhile, five others including two women suffered serious injuries in three similar accidents.
In the second incident, a man lost control of his motorbike on the bumpy road near the Rescue 1122 office and hit a woman, identified as Pathan Bibi, 50. Bibi suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital.
Another incident occurred in Manwal Village, when two motorcyclists collided with each other. Muhammad Ilyas, resident of Balkasar, and Khalid Mehmood, resident of Bhakkar, were riding their motorcycles when they lost control and collided with each other. The injured men were under treatment in DHQ Hospital, Chakwal.
Moreover, Naveed, 32, and Fakhira Bibi also suffered serious injuries in similar accidents.
Many roads in the area are in dilapidated condition, including highways and service roads which have been dug up to repair wires and pipes. Among these is the Rawalpindi-Jhelum road, which was dug up by the National Logistics Cell (NLC) to fix telephone, gas and electricity lines.
The work is progressing at snail’s pace, locals told Daily Express.
Construction work on the Chakwal-Mandra road and th Chakwal-Sohawa roadis also testing commuters due to slow pace.
