Kidnapper found: Suspected child trafficker remanded

The judge sent the suspect into police custody on physical remand till February 11

KARACHI: A judicial magistrate remanded into police custody an alleged leader of an organised crime ring involved in abduction of children to force them into begging. The suspect, Ajmal, was apprehend in Punjab and was taken back to the city on the directions of the home department, the investigating officer of the case told the District West magistrate on Monday. Ajmal has been accused of kidnapping three siblings - seven-year-old Rubina, four-year-old Rashid, and three-year-old Rozina - from Surjani Town. According to the police, the suspect had fled to Punjab to sell the children. He runs a ‘kidnapping-and-begging’ ring operated in different parts of the country, submitted the officer, seeking his custody for further investigation. The judge sent the suspect into police custody on physical remand till February 11 and directed the IO to bring a progress report at the next hearing.
