Weekly roundup: Vegetable, fruit prices remain stable at Sunday bazaars
Prices of 13 vegetables declined as compared to last week

Fruit and vegetables prices remained largely stable in weekly Sunday bazaars. According to the list issued by the Lahore Market Committee, prices of 13 vegetables were lower and of 10 higher as compared to last week.
The highest raise - 20 per cent - was recorded in the price of okra. It sold for Rs80 to Rs90 per kilogramme. With a raise of 14 per cent, carrots sold for Rs10 to Rs16 per kg.
Desi green chili, Chinese lemons and saag registered an 11 per cent rise. Desi green chili and Chinese lemons sold for Rs40 to Rs50. Saag sold for Rs15 to Rs20 per kg in the weekly bazaars. Garlic prices witnessed a raise of 7 to 8 per cent. Chinese garlic was sold for Rs215 to Rs227 and a local variety was sold for Rs225 to Rs235 per kg. Onion prices registered a hike of over 6 per cent, selling at Rs35 per kg.
Chinese ginger showed a rise of 4.5 per cent and sold for Rs85 to 93 per kg. Tomato prices rose by 3 per cent and settled at Rs28 to Rs32 per kg.
Cucumber and cabbage prices were lower by 23 per cent and they sold for Rs45 to Rs50 and Rs8 to Rs10 per kg respectively. Spinach prices declined by 17 per cent and it sold for Rs10 to 15 per kg. Capsicum prices dropped by 17 per cent and settled at Rs40 to 45 per kg. Methi (fenugreek) prices fell by 15 per cent. It sold at Rs9 to Rs11 per kg. Bitter gourd was sold for Rs75 to Rs82 per kg after a decline of 14 per cent.
Cauliflower prices declined by 11 per cent and settled at Rs12 to Rs16 per kg. Radish prices dropped by 8 per cent. It was sold for Rs8 to Rs11 per kg. Prices of potato (new) remained at Rs9 to 11 per kg after an increase of over 8 per cent. Chinese and Thai varieties of ginger also were sold for Rs85 to 93 and Rs55 to Rs57 per kg respectively. Taro roots (arvi) prices were reduced by over 4 per cent and settled at Rs40 to 43 per kg. Green peas were sold for Rs30 to 35 per kg in the weekly bazaars.
Prices of farmed green chili variety, brinjals, mongray and turnip remained stable. Green chili was sold for Rs30 to Rs35, brinjal for Rs 25 to Rs30, mongray for Rs 8 to Rs20 and turnip for Rs10 per kg.
Prices of most fruit also remained stable in the Sunday bazaars as compared to last week. Prices of melon registered a raise of 9 per cent. They were being sold for Rs55 to 60 per kg. Similarly, prices of apples (white) also rose by 9 per cent to reach Rs45 to Rs50 per kg.
Papaya prices witnessed a raise of 5 per cent. It was sold for Rs100 to 118 per kg. Premium grade kinow price rose by 5 per cent. They sold for Rs70 to 80 per dozen. Prices of Iranian dates rose by over 3 per cent.
They were being sold for Rs140 to Rs150 per kg. Kandahari pomegranate prices increased by 3 per cent. They were being sold for Rs170 to Rs180 per kg in the weekly bazaars.
Prices of sweet potato, guava, fruiter, coconut, grapes and pomegranate (white) reduced.
