Breaking the drug network : ANF foils drug smuggling bids

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Sunday foiled four attempts to smuggle heavy quantity of heroin abroad from the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA).


According to the ANF officials, the force seized 34.7kg heroin worth Rs222 million from four different passengers travelling to different countries. Tipped off, the ANF officials arrested Qasim Ali and Ghulam Ali, both residents of Sargodha, and recovered 5.650kg heroin each from their luggage.




The two suspected drug smugglers were arrested at the pedestrian entry gate. They were travelling to Riyad through Shaheen Airlines’ flight No NL-739.

The ANF team also arrested Muhammad Saghir, a resident of Sialkot, and recovered 11.350kg heroin from his luggage. The passenger was booked on flight No QR-613 to Austria. The ANF also arrested another passenger Ashfaq Ali, a resident of Faisalabad, with 12.05kg heroin contained in his baggage. He was to take off for Italy by Turkish Airlines’ flight No TK-711.

Separate cases have been registered against all suspects at ANF police stations, said a press release.
