Pakistani think tanks ranked among top 20 in SE Asia

SDPI has been ranked 15 and PIIA has secured 18th position in 2015 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report

Two Pakistani institutions have clinched positions among top 20 think thanks of the world, according to a research report published by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Programme (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania.

The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) was ranked 15 while Pakistan Institute of International Affairs (PIIA) secured the 18th position among 95 other think tanks in South Asia and the Pacific region in 2015 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report published on January 29.

While the PIIA’s area of focus is foreign policies of regional and other countries as it hits the changing political policies in scenario of geo-political circumstances, the SPDI provides global sustainable development community with representation from Pakistan as well as South Asia as a whole.


The TTCSP conducts research on the role policy institutes play in governments and civil societies around the world.

Often referred to as the “think tanks’ think tank,” TTCSP examines the evolving role and character of public policy research organisations.

The TTCSP works with leading scholars and practitioners from think tanks and universities in a variety of collaborative efforts and programs, and produces the annual Global Go To Think Tank Index that ranks the world’s leading think tanks in a variety of categories.
