KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Amir Khan’s lawyer will argue on February 11 against the Rangers application challenging grant of bail to him in a case pertaining to facilitation of criminals. The Rangers authorities had challenged the release of MQM’s Rabita Committee member in September last year, at least two months after an anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted him bail in a case relating to instigating terrorism and harbouring criminals. The paramilitary troops had taken him into custody during a pre-dawn raid at the MQM headquarters, Nine Zero, on March 11. He was granted bail by the ATC-II on June 29 last year. Two months on, the Rangers had challenged the ATC’s release order in the Sindh High Court, claiming that the trial court’s order was ‘one-sided’. Advocate Mehmood Alam Rizvi requested for time to prepare and argue the case, for the defendant. Approving the request, the bench granted him time till February 11.
