The government is undertaking various export promotional activities through trade exhibitions in new high-end markets to increase export of Pakistani fruits. These include South Korea, Australia, Lebanon, United States (US), Mauritius, Bulgaria, Sweden, Latvia and Ireland. Citing the steps taken by the government to achieve the export targets of Pakistani fruits, officials said Ministry of Commerce under the Strategic Trade Policy Framework 2012-15 announced subsidising 50% cost of plant and machinery for dates processing. They said that through active trade diplomacy, the government was trying to get better market access for local businesses in international markets by concluding Free Trade Agreements and Preferential Trade Agreements with different countries.
