Sarafa currency association: Traders demand policy review
Two weeks ago, police and FIA officials raided the market and closed almost 400 shops

The trading community of Peshawar has demanded the government to revisit the policy of State Bank Pakistan (SBP) regarding Sarafa Currency Association. The demand was made in a meeting chaired by Peshawar Chamber of Small Traders and Industries President Ehtesham Haleem, said a press release. The participants of the meeting said Sarafa Currency Association has been in the business of Afghan currency for the last 100 years. Two weeks ago, police and FIA officials raided the market and closed almost 400 shops for not having proper licence. The traders’ claim was further validated by the high court which has ordered for the business to be restored, they added.
