A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck in the northeast of Taiwan on Tuesday, the US Geological Survey said, with no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

No tsunami warning was issued but Twitter users as far away as Kaohsiung, on the southwest of the island, reported feeling tremors.
