Law and order: ‘Robber’ killed, cop injured in shootout

FAISALABAD:
A robber was killed and a policeman was injured in a shootout in Nishatabad area, police said on Sunday. A spokesman for Nishatabad police said a team led by SHO Rashid Mehmood had signalled two people riding a motorbike for a search at a picket. He said the men on the motorbike shot at the police team. He said when the policemen shot back, one of the men was hit. He said his accomplice managed to escape. The spokesman Head Constable Ashfaq Ahmad was also injured in the exchange. He said the deceased had been identified as Muhammad Aslam, a resident of Chak 143-JB. He said the man was wanted by Faisalabad and Chiniot police for several robberies. Two police teams headed by the CIA SP and the Madina Town SP had been constituted to apprehend Ahmad’s accomplice, the spokesman said.
