Regulating roads: Rs200 million collected in fines
Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) issued over 527,300 tickets in 2015, amounting to a total fine of over Rs200 million, the highest yearly figure so far.
The police also impounded 5,200 and over 12,700 motorcycles for severe traffic violations during the period.
The CTP challaned 12,982 motorists for having tinted glasses while 11837 tickets were issued to motorists driving without registration documents of vehicles and motorcycles.
Another 93,678 motorists were fined for having number plates while 102,661 tickets were issued for use of nonstandard number plates. A total of 7852 drivers were issued tickets for parking violations while 4101 were challaned for reckless driving.
The police issued 9254 tickets to public transporters for violating route permit. As many as 7,256 challans were issued to underage drivers.
A total of 15,405 drivers were fined for using mobile phones while driving. Another 31,968 were issued challans for driving without a driving licence.
A total of 18,303 motorists were fined for jumping traffic signals, while 6,509 were challaned for obstructing traffics.
