Conflicting Claims: MQM demands release of party worker

A spokesperson for the paramilitary force denied the arrest

KARACHI:
The MQM has demanded the release of its party worker Minhaj Qazi, who was allegedly picked up by the paramilitary Rangers on Friday morning.  The Rangers, which has been spearheading an operation against criminals and terrorists in Karachi for the last two years, denied that it has arrested Qazi. In a statement, the Rabita Committee called upon the federal and provincial government as well as the heads of the law enforcement agencies to take notice of Qazi’s arrest. “The Rangers arrested Qazi from his home in the Garden area early Friday morning,” the statement said.  A spokesperson for the paramilitary force denied the arrest.
