Corrupt charges: FIA arrest two officials

The suspects allegedly embezzled Rs14.4 million by tampering record and cheques

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two government officials on corruption charges.



According to a press release issued by the agency late Wednesday, the FIA arrested Usman Farooq, former postmaster resident of Rawat for allegedly stealing cash from GPO Rawalpindi during official duty and replacing eight fake currency notes of one thousand denominations each.


An FIR was registered after an inquiry on the complaint of divisional superintendent postal services Rawalpindi against the suspect.


The FIA also arrested Tahir Khan, a resident of PWD Society Islamabad, and a former chief accounts officer in the Hydro-Carbon Institute of Pakistan.


The suspects allegedly embezzled Rs14.4 million by tampering record and cheques. They were found guilty in a departmental inquiry.
