Six suspected TTP militants nabbed

The suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for further interrogation and cases were registered against it

Law enforcement agencies claimed to have foiled a terror bid after arresting several suspected militants and recovering an explosive-laden motorcycle from their possession.


Six militants were arrested during an overnight raid conducted on a tip-off in Rizvia locality, said District Central SSP Muqaddas Haider, adding that the arrests were made after an exchange of fire in which one policeman was also wounded. The injured cop was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment where doctors termed his condition stable.

The suspected militants were later identified as Syed Alam, Syed Ahmed, Syed Amin, Muzaffar, Nasir Adil and Islamuddin. SSP Haider said the suspects, who belong to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and include a local commander as well, were planning to carry out a major terror attack in the city.

The police claim to have recovered an explosive-laden motorcycle, grenades, and several kinds of arms and ammunition from their possession.

At least 100 suspected militants arrested near Islamabad

The bomb disposal squad (BDS) was also called at the site to defuse explosives fixed to the motorcycle. According to BDS experts, the explosives, weighing around five kilogrammes, were placed in the motorcycle’s petrol tank and a mobile phone was also attached to them.
