Around 40 teachers get ‘best university teacher’ awards

ISLAMABAD:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan Abbasi has stressed the need for research-based education to take the country forward.

“Nations which develop a futuristic approach and invest in quality higher education are the ones who progress,” he said while speaking at the Best University Teacher Award ceremony, organised by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Thursday.

As many as 40 teachers from various public and private sector universities were given Best University Teacher Award for the year 2014 in recognition of their outstanding performance. Each winner was awarded a certificate and a cash prize of Rs100,000 each.

The K-P governor observed that a huge investment has been made in the higher education sector during the last one decade.


HEC Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed urged the teachers to get the students involved in research to bring them closer to the edged of knowledge.
