Farhan Akhtar speaks about fitness and body transformations
NEW DELHI:
Bollywood heartthrob, Farhan Akhtar has claimed that the variety of roles that come his way motivate him to remain in the best shape possible. “I think we [actors] are kind of fortunate in that we have a reason apart from just staying fit: that you can do something about it [fitness] and bring it into a performance,” explained Farhan. “So, there is even more motivation to keep doing it [staying fit].”
The 42-year-old actor is no stranger to extensive fitness regimes. Farhan reportedly worked out for nearly 13 months in preparation for his blockbuster hit, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, as the character in Rakesh Omprakash Mehra directorial required Farhan to be lean and muscular. He, therefore, had to undergo months of intense training to achieve the right look.
Farhan Akhtar and wife part ways after 16 years of marriage
But do erratic workout schedules and constant diet changes not affect Farhan’s health? “It makes you look great,” he said in response. “It is actually tougher when you are not doing it in all honestly. When you don’t have any discipline in terms of your fitness or what you eat, that is when it takes a toll,” added the Dil Dhadakne Do actor.
Farhan was last seen opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Bejoy’s suspense thriller, Wazir. His next offering will be Rock On 2!!! — sequel to the 2008 musical drama, Rock On. He has recently been in the news for his highly-publicised divorce from celebrity hairstylist, Adhuna Akhtar, after 15 years of marriage. The former couple has two daughters — Shakya and Akira — together.
