
The protestors said they pelted the building with stones after police officials locked it from within. Talking to The Express Tribune, some of them said three armed men had robbed a number of people including school teachers and students at Moza Gul Nawaz Khan ay. They said several phone calls were made to the Miani police, to report the crime, but they failed to show up at the scene. Professor Muhammad Arshad, Muhammad Ijaz, Zafar Iqbal Ajmal Abbas, Hafiz Ali Abrar, Taimur Gujjar, Azhar Abbas and several other teachers were deprived of their cell phones and cash.
They said the robbers snatched jewellry from women teachers and beat them up on resistance.
ASI Haq Nawaz said the protestors had not allowed them enough time to respond. As soon as they reached the police station, he said, some protestors started throwing stones at the police.
He said a new station house officer had been posted to the Miani station, recently and had not arrived on Wednesday.
The protestors dispersed after Sargodha district police officer BA Nasir assured them that he would follow the case and ensure that the robbers were put behind bars.
Some of the students told the Tribune that once they lost all hope of police helping them, they attacked the robbers with sticks. The robbers, they said, then fled after firing a few shots in the air.
