Miley Cyrus joins cast of film icon Woody Allen’s TV series
LOS ANGELES:
After gaining a cult following through blockbuster movies like Midnight in Paris and Take the Money and Run, acclaimed Hollywood writer and director, Woody Allen, is set to shift his focus towards the silver screen. For the TV series that he is making for media giant Amazon, Allen has chosen pop starlet Miley Cyrus as part of the cast.
Allen’s ingenious projects have boasted of the crème de la crème of Hollywood for years, attracting top celebrity talent despite a pay scale lower than what many of the stars normally command. Cyrus will be joining a long list of current A-listers who have worked under him, including Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams.
Miley Cyrus to be more conservative off stage
The 23-year-old actor and singer — whose career path has taken her from a Tween Disney star to a controversial musician — confirmed her casting on Monday by posting a picture on her Instagram account. The picture was of a painting of Allen, accompanied by an expletive-laced caption that read, “Stoked to be in Woody Allen’s first series!!!!!”
The six-and-a-half-hour episode series will feature popular comedian of yesteryears, Elaine May as well. The story is set in the 1960s. Shooting for the project is to begin in March. Although the team has yet to finalise a name, the series is due to release later this year.
