Big haul: 80 suspected criminals arrested in Swabi operation

At least 80 suspected criminals were arrested and weapons were seized during a search operation in Swabi on Sunday. Four criminals involved in the killing of policemen were also apprehended.



Police told The Express Tribune a search operation was conducted in the district by SHO Asghar Khan of Zaida police station under the supervision of Swabi DSP Izhar Shah. At least 80 suspects were taken into custody by the police, counter-terrorism department and other authorities for their involvement in criminal activities.


Four notorious criminals were also rounded up. Two Kalashnikovs, one pistol and several bullets were also seized from their possession. As a result of the raids, a suspect involved in several kidnapping cases was also nabbed.


As part of the operation, police flagged down a vehicle and recovered five kilogrammes of high quality hashish from its concealed compartments. The driver of the car, identified as Umar, was also taken into custody.


While briefing the media, Izhar said criminals will not be allowed to operate freely in Swabi.
