National Accountability Bureau Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry reviewed training needs and capacity building of NAB officers and officials at NAB Headquarters.

A training plan was analysed for NAB’s investigation officers (IOs) and prosecutors for the year 2016.

NAB’s director-general training and research division gave a presentation on the training being provided to investigation officers and prosecutors. He said the training plan for 2016 had 11 refresher courses for IOs and two for prosecutors. Further, courses for training of trainers have been planned for the year.

He said six short term courses on capacity building for NAB IOs, along with orientation and short term IT courses for IOs and prosecutors will be held.

The DG added that interaction with international organizations like Australian Federal Police and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and local training institutes like Secretariat Training Institute (STI), Pakistan Manpower Institute (PMI), National Institute of Banking and Finance (NIBAF), National Police Academy and FIA Academy, COMSATS and Pakistan Planning and Management Institution Islamabad (PPMI) were held to cater to the training needs of NAB officers in different areas including white collar crimes.


The NAB chairman said he accords high priority to the training of NAB officers.

Chaudhry said training is a continuous process, and is an important aspect in the capacity building of NAB IOs and prosecutors, and the cutting edge of effective job performance. He said that training is an instrument through which human capabilities are developed for enhancing practical and productive efforts.

He added NAB is committed to eradicating corruption  from the country, and bringing guilty to justice. He stated that the effective execution of this mandate necessities the continuous professional competence of NAB’s human resources.

The chairman said NAB recognizes the centrality of training as a tool of improvement and maintaining the quality manpower. He said that a standardised syllabus for all IOs, refresher and capacity building courses on accounts, general financial rules, digital forensic question documents and finger print analysis has been formulated by NAB.
