Food regulation: PFA seals hospital canteens over hygiene
The Sharif Medical City Hospital’s canteen was sealed after some insects were detected there

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) continued a crackdown on Thursday on the sale of unhygienic and sub-standard food at hospital canteens.
The PFA Allama Iqbal Town team sealed canteens at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital and the Sharif Medical City Hospital over poor hygiene.
Various food items, including ketchup and nimko, at Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital’s canteen were found to be of poor quality. The Sharif Medical City Hospital’s canteen was sealed after some insects were detected there. Expired food products were also found on sale. The canteen at the Doctors’ Hospital was sealed over poor cleanliness arrangements.
The Ravi Town team sealed the canteen of Punjab Dental College after its workers failed to produce medical certificates. Sub-standard ketchup was also being sold at the facility. Lady Willingdon Hospital’s canteen was sealed over poor hygiene conditions.
The PFA Nishtar Town and Data Ganj Bakhsh teams fined canteens at Wapda Hospital, the Central Hospital, Rasheed Latif Hospital, King Edward Medical College and Mayo Hospital for similar reasons.
Jinnah Hospital’s Zam Zam Canteen and the canteen at Allama Iqbal Medical College were sealed over poor cleanliness arrangements. The PFA Samanabad Town team sealed the Arabian Delights workshop on Wahdat Road over poor hygiene. The staff at the sweets shop was caught working without medical certificates.
