Court proceedings : Continuity of LUMHS VC challenged

The outgoing president of Sindh High Court (SHC) Bar Association, Hyderabad, has challenged in SHC the continuity of the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences’ vice-chancellor (VC) in office. The petitioner, advocate Ghulamullah Chang, maintained that the second tenure of the VC Professor Dr Noshad A Shaikh expired in April, 2015, but he continues to hold the office. He cited the bar on third term as per the Sindh Universities Act, 2013, and an earlier ruling of the SHC. Hyderabad circuit bench ordered the respondents, including chief secretary, provincial government universities secretary and the VC, to submit their replies.
