Huma Qureshi first choice for Raees, but Mahira Khan 'totally nailed' the role

We don't doubt Mahira's acting prowess

First Meera, then Sanam Saeed and now Huma Qureshi? Raees is making more headlines for actors who were meant to be cast alongside King Khan in the upcoming film, than the film itself.

According to DNA India, Huma Qureshi was the first choice to play SRK's leading lady in the film. Their source reveals, "They thought Huma would fit the bill and they also wanted a fresh pairing of sorts."

However, Pakistani actress Mahira was the perfect choice because when she came on board, she "totally nailed it". "The character required the actress to have a certain kind of mannerism and lingo and being a Pakistani, Mahira totally nailed it," the source added.

Since the film is based on the Muslim ghetto in Gujarat and revolves around the story of a man who gains power, the heroine, playing SRK's wife, also plays a pivotal role in the film.

We can hardly wait for the release of Raees, and it looks like SRK feels the same way. The Bollywood megastar also knows Mahira is the perfect choice for the role:
