KARACHI:

In less than only two weeks, robbers looted another private bank in the metropolis on Wednesday.

A group of over half-a-dozen armed men barged into the branch of JS Bank located in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 7 at around 10:42am and snatched the guns from the two security guards, Ghulamuddin and Rizwan Gul. The robbers also held staff members and customers hostage at gunpoint.

The bandits managed to rob Rs374,446 and also took three mobile phones from the staff members before fleeing. However, they did not take the CCTV cameras installed at the bank with them before escaping. The police reached the area to collect evidences and questioned the witnesses. East district SSP Javed Jiskani said that the investigators have obtained the CCTV footage, adding that faces of the suspects involved in the robbery are clear in the footage while efforts are being made to trace the accused. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.

This was the second bank robbery reported in the current year, as earlier a gang of robbers looted over one million rupees from a branch of Allied Bank Limited in Korangi on January 8. The culprits involved in that robbery have yet to be traced and arrested.
