LAHORE: A resolution condemning the Bacha Khan University attack was submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday.

Opposition Leader in the Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed submitted the resolution, which expresses deep sorrow over the deaths in the attack.

As many as 30 people lost their lives in the attack and another 60 were injured. “The House expresses its unwavering support to the operation against terrorists. It demands that the federal and provincial governments make use of all resources at their disposal to eliminate terrorism from the country. It also calls on the government to proceed with the operation without being influenced by any pressure,” the draft resolution reads.

Later in a press statement, Rasheed condemned the attack and expressed grief over the loss of lives. He said that all political parties stood united with the armed forces in the war against terrorism.

Condemnations also poured in from other leaders of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), including Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Aleem Khan and Ejaz Chaudhry. They strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda. Sarwar said that the war against terrorism was not being fought by a single political party or province, but by the entire country. “PTI stands with the armed forces of Pakistan and honours all the sacrifices that have been made in this war against terrorism,” he said. Sarwar urged all political parties to stand with the armed forces of Pakistan to counter terrorism. Aleem Khan also visited Charsadda along with party chief Imran Khan. Ejaz Chaudhry termed the attack a conspiracy to undermine stability of the country.
