Malala Yousafzai partners with TOMS to support girls’ education
All proceeds will go to the Malala Fund to enable girls to complete 12 years of safe, quality education
Malala Yousafzai is doing all she can to be able to empower young girls, and this time the 18-year-old global advocate of education has joined hands with TOMS to help her on her journey.
The fashion brand, no stranger to charitable causes, has collaborated with the Nobel Prize Winner Malala Yousafzai to benefit her foundation 'Malala Fund' that works to enable girls to complete 12 years of safe, quality education.
In a recent interview with PeopleStyle, founder of the the coveted shoe and eyewear brand, Blake Mycoskie, shared her experience of launching Malala Fund x TOMS scarf. “I am so proud to be partnering with the Malala Fund, and the entire movement that was inspired by Malala,” he said.
“Too often young girls can’t go to school because they must work, or they have to marry, or many times there is too much violence around their schools."
"This movement is committed to supporting the rights of all girls globally to have access to 12 years of safe and quality education. All of us at TOMS are honoured to be able to partner with the Malala Fund and help provide education to girls around the world," he added.

Malala is equally excited to have created this statement piece. “It’s a scarf that girls and women can wear all over the world from the US to Pakistan, whether as a fashion accessory or a beautiful headscarf (hijab),” she told PeopleStyle.
“Any girl or woman can wear it, however she wishes, to show her support for girls’ education globally. But most importantly, TOMS is giving 100 percent of the profits from every scarf to the Malala Fund to empower girls through education and I am so grateful for that," she added.

Anna Faris, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Octavia Spencer are among many other celebrities who have already shown their support for the noble cause by donning the iconic scarf. As Blake shared, they are “creating a community and conversation around it."
Last year, Malala extended support to Syrian refugees through her fund. “Most exciting for me last year was visiting Lebanon near the Syrian border on my birthday. I was there to open a school for 200 Syrian refugee girls, built and run with donations from Malala Fund supporters,” she said.
She plans to continue her quest of providing quality education to these children this year as well. "My aim for 2016 is to raise the voices of Syrian refugee children, for their safety and education and peace," said Malala.
