Miss Colombia finally confronts Steve Harvey: 'Learn how to read cards'

There were tears, hugs and lots of apologies

A month after facing a horrific ordeal on live TV, Miss Columbia Ariadna Gutierrez has finally confronted Steve Harvey for his embarrassing mix up on the Miss Universe 2015 show.

The American comedian, host of last year's beauty pageant, sat down with Miss Columbia for his two-part special show Miss Universe: The Truth, following his epic Miss Universe blunder.

Amid tears and sniffles, Steve apologised profusely for his mistake, clearing that he never intended for it to happen. "You're the one person that I really wanted to talk to, because of a mistake I made, I cast you into a spotlight or place that I never intended to, that I would not want to happen to anybody," said the 59-year-old. "I just want to say how sorry I am.



"For the country of Colombia, I never intended for this moment to be. For your country, but especially for the two of you," he continued. "This finally gives me a chance to have a moment of closure. I wanted you to understand sincerely from my heart how I am as a person. That I would never do that as a publicity stunt."

He disclosed that the incident "caused a lot of sleepless nights in my house".

"But no matter how tough that was for me, I can’t even begin to imagine what it was like for you. And I felt horrible for that," said Harvey.

Miss Columbia faced a humiliating experience last month when she was told that she has been wrongly crowned. The incident was nothing short of cringe-worthy for the pageant contestant as Steve admitted that he misread the pageant winners’ names and accidentally announced Ariadna as the winner.
