Death penalty: Murder convict hanged
The apex court had upheld the decision of the lower court and the president had turned down his mercy petition.

A murder convict was hanged at the Jhang District Jail on Tuesday morning. A Prisons Department spokesperson said Allah Ditta, a resident of Chak 161-JB, was sentenced to death by a trial court. He said Allah Ditta had killed a rival in 1996. The apex court had upheld the decision of the lower court and the president had turned down his mercy petition. A district and sessions judge had issued black warrants for Allah Ditta to be hanged on January 19.
