Departmental inefficiency: Deadline? What Deadline?

Legislator receives reply to question 13 months after raising it.

PESHAWAR:
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly Speaker Kiramatullah Khan on Wednesday once again issued instructions to all the provincial departments to reply to legislator’s questions within two weeks.

The speaker refreshed the instructions while responding to objection raised by Sardar Aurangzeb Khan Nalota of PML-N, who pointed out that the answer to a question submitted by him in December 2009 came to the house on Wednesday.

The rules of business require submission of replies within 10 days. In case of failure, the concerned authorities will be responsible and he will have to face the consequences, warned the speaker.

The speaker issued similar instructions during the current session of the assembly and the Deputy Speaker Advocate Khushdil Khan, presiding over the proceeding on Monday also asked the departments to submit replies within the prescribed period.

The question of Badshah Saleh regarding details of actions taken under Companies Ordinance 1984 during the last five years remained pending due to the absence of the concerned minister.

The question by Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F regarding initiating development schemes in terrorism affected areas of Hangu District was disposed off after the assurance of the law minister that the issue would be resolved at the District Coordination Officer level.
