Performance Report: 132 cases filed against drug peddlers
Gyan Chand Esrani lauded the action against drugs deales
KARACHI:
A total of 132 cases were registered against drug peddlers and manufacturers under the Narcotics Act until December 2015, according to a performance report submitted by excise and taxation department director-general Shabir Ahmed Shaikh to the excise department’s narcotics wing. He added that 12 vehicles were impounded and hundreds of kilogrammes of heroin, charas, opium, foreign and illicit liquor, chemicals and apparatus used in manufacturing drugs were seized last year. Minister for excise taxation and narcotics control Gyan Chand Esrani lauded the action against drugs deales. “We will have to take strict measures to make the society free from the menace of drugs,” he said. The minister said through collective efforts, they have to make the nation safe from the menace of drugs. The media has to play a vital role in creating awareness.
